SNOOP DOGG PRAISES KENDRICK LAMAR & DRAKE FOR REVIVING LYRICISM WITH RAP BEEF

Snoop Dogg has weighed in on Kendrick Lamar and Drake‘s recent feud, praising the Hip Hop heavyweights for reviving lyricism.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about the much-talked about beef while promoting his role in The Garfield Movie, Snoop gave props to both rappers.

“Well, the only thing I want to say about that whole scenario is that I want to give both of them a shout out for raising the bar as far as lyrics, as far as song-making and writing because the writing has been upped since the confrontation,” he said.

He added: “Those are my nephews. I’m not in the middle of it. I support both of them and that’s personal business, not my business.”

Snoop also said: “As far as what they did for the industry and the rap game, they made you rap again. You can’t mumble your way and gimmick your way to a song no more, buddy. So thank y’all.”

Tha Doggfather did become somewhat involved in the beef after Drake used AI to recreate West Coast legend’s voice for his controversial diss song “Taylor Made Freestyle,” which was later removed following legal threats from 2Pac‘s estate.

On the track, a computer-generated version of Snoop rapped: “Dot, you know that the D-O-G never fucking doubted you/ But right now it seem like you posted up without a clue of what the fuck you ’bout to do.”

Soon after the song went live, the Long Beach native took to social media and shared a hilarious reaction to his “feature.”

NICKI MINAJ CANCELS CONCERT AFTER BEING RELEASED FROM DUTCH ARREST

Nicki Minaj has been forced to cancel her concert in Manchester, England, after Dutch police detained her for possession of marijuana, which is considered a “soft drug” in Amsterdam.

The Co-Op Live — the venue where Minaj was scheduled to perform on Saturday (May 25) — took to its Instagram page to announce that the concert would not be held.

“Nicki Minaj’s scheduled performance at Manchester’s Co-op Live on Saturday 25th May has been postponed,” the announcement read. “Tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled performance which will be announced ASAP.

“Despite Nicki’s best efforts to explore every possible avenue to make tonight’s show happen, the events of today have made it impossible. We are deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused. More information will be available at your point of purchase.”

MEEK MILL JOINS YUNG MIAMI IN UNFOLLOWING DIDDY ON INSTAGRAM AFTER CASSIE ASSAULT FOOTAGE

Meek Mill has quietly distanced himself from Diddy after footage of the mogul assaulting Cassie surfaced online last week.

The Philly rapper is no longer following the Bad Boy Records boss on Instagram, joining Yung Miami’s as she did the same in the aftermath of the leaked video.

It is worth noting that he has previously given the businessman the benefit of the doubt regarding the myriad of sexual assault, harassment and misconduct cases filed against him due to his own alleged involvement in the ordeal.

“I don’t believe no Diddy story once they lied about me now!,” the 37-year-old MC tweeted last month. “Anybody try to sexually assault me it will be a bang out on the spot how yall don’t know that lol I don’t care but yall confusing my son he’s 12 with people saying his dad gay it’s sick now outchea so fuck it lol.”

Prior to that, the “Dreams and Nightmares” MC vehemently shut down rumors that he had a sexual relationship with Diddy after a lawsuit claimed the two were intimate with one another.

Back in February, producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones (who worked on Diddy’s The Love Album: Off the Grid) accused the mogul of sexual harassment as well as drugging and threatening him over the course of a year.

Diddy's Walk of Fame Star Cannot Be Removed

Calls to remove Diddy's Hollywood Walk of Fame star are gaining traction amid his downfall -- but the team behind the honor has made no such move.

A Hollywood Chamber of Commerce spokesperson tells TMZ ... they have not discussed it and the org is powerless to make the star disappear.

The Chamber says, while it has the authority to nominate star recipients, manufacture and install stars upon city approval and conduct the Walk of Fame installation ceremony, it lacks the authority to remove them.

MA$E EXPLAINS SILENCE ON DIDDY DRAMA, PROMISES TO SPEAK OUT 'SOON'

Ma$e has yet to speak on the footage of his former Bad Boy boss Diddy abusing Cassie and the myriad of other lawsuits and accusations filed against him, but the time is coming.

Fans have noticed Murda’s noticeable silence on the matter since the footage leaked and shocked the world late last week. Since then, the fallout has been swift and many of the mogul’s peers have spoken out against him, but Ma$e has been silent on the matter despite his many issues with the businessman over the years.

However, he addressed his lack of commentary on Tuesday’s (May 21) episode of It Is What It Is.

“I’m saving my takes for the documentary,” he said. “If y’all wondering how I feel, it’s coming soon – pause.”

GLORILLA ACCUSED OF STEALING $400K BY ATLANTA INVESTOR

GloRilla is being sued by an Atlanta-area investor, Aristotle Varner Jr., after he alleged that the “Yeah Glo!” rapper defrauded him out of more than $400,000 for failure to promote him on social media, as she’d initially promised to do.

Varner Jr. revealed his lawsuit against the rapper on The Morning Hustle on Friday (May 24).

“She was [already] big. It’s just — you know — celebrity, cocky, ‘I’m not going to fulfill the contract’ shit. You know how that shit go,” he said.

A court document uncovered by Spade TV revealed that Varner Jr. says he paid $150,000 for GloRilla to post a collaborative Instagram message, perform an in-person meet-and-greet, and sit down for a 30-minute interview with “celebrity” Asia Varner, who is also the investor’s wife. Varner Jr. alleged that GloRilla only posted the collaborative Instagram post, and didn’t perform the other duties which she was contractually obligated to perform back in 2022.

It’s unclear what relation this has to the contract, but a TikTok posted by Varner Jr.’s Aristotle Investments company in February 2023 shows Glo promoting Varner Jr.’s then-upcoming “free stock class.”

“I asked @glorillapimp to teach me the dance in exchange for some stock lessons… and the rest is history!” the caption reads.

“Here’s the good news! You can come learn with her. Because she’s on tour, we have to do the lessons virtually! Comment ‘learn’ to attend our stock class SUNDAY February 19th 7pm. I’ll personally DM you the link to get in the zoom meeting w/ @glorillapimp.”

Tea
SEXYY RED JOKES ABOUT HOW SHE MANAGES TO GET SO MANY DRAKE FEATURES

Sexyy Red and Drake have worked together a number of times recently, and the Missouri native has now jokingly explained why that is the case.

The 26-year-old rapper dropped her new album In Sexyy We Trust with little notice earlier this week, and it features a cameo by the 6 God wherein he spits over Metro Boomin‘s “BBL Drizzy” beat.

Soon after the joint went viral online, one fan joking wrote and asked her: “are you fucking drake for features ?”

Without missing a beat or explaining herself, she responded succinctly (and presumably sarcastically): “yes.”

DRAKE SONGWRITING DRAMA THICKENS AS VORY'S 'MOB TIES' REFERENCE TRACK SURFACES

Drake‘s ghostwriting drama has continued after what appears to be a reference track for “Mob Ties” made by Vory leaked online.

The origin of the leak is not yet known and neither Drake nor Vory have commented on its veracity.

The Grammy-nominated singer, who was previously signed to Meek Mill‘s Dream Chasers label, has always been a credited co-writer on the track but commentators such as Akademiks have previously claimed that he did play an integral role.

The media personality said of Vory’s credit on the song on his Rumble channel: “He is credited but he ain’t write nothing […] I’ma tell you how I know he ain’t write shit for Drake: [‘Mob Ties’] was almost like a Toronto n-gga spitting.”

Vory is not the first artist to be accused of giving Drake a helping hand in the studio.

Lil Yachty was recently claimed to have written “Jumbotron Shit Poppin” — from the 6 God’s joint album with 21 Savage, Her Loss — after an alleged reference track surfaced online.

Rick Ross, who had dissed Drake both on songs and social media, used the rumors as more ammo against his former collaborator.

“Yacht Put ya phone on silent lil bro.. [100 emoji] #BBLDRIZZY CALLING AGAIN [nose emoji, hand emoji, laughing emoji],” he wrote online, referencing his previous claims that Drizzy had undergone plastic surgery.

He added: “YACHT AKA THE PEN [five writing emojis].”

Rozay also claimed that Drake had somebody else write his verse on Travis Scott‘s smash hit “Sicko Mode.”

B.G.'S LAWYER FIGHTS BACK AGAINST ORDER TO HAVE LYRICS PRE-APPROVED BY PROBATION OFFICER

B.G.‘s lawyers have fought back against a court order demanding that the rapper’s lyrics be pre-approved by a probation officer, claiming that the order is a violation of the First Amendment.

The Guardian obtained a legal filing made on Wednesday (May 22), in which the rapper’s attorneys made clear that submitting his lyrics prior to making them go live on wax violates his rights.

“As to the Government’s request for Mr. Dorsey [referring to the rapper’s real name, Christopher Dorsey] to provide U.S. Probation (and the government) with lyrics ‘for any song that he may write, in whole or in part, while on supervised release,’ it is respectfully submitted that this request is overly broad and violates the First Amendment and due process,” his attorneys wrote.

“It is respectfully submitted that requiring Mr. Dorsey to submit his mental impressions and lyrics for any song that he may write, whole or in part, would constitute a prior restraint. It is respectfully submitted that Mr. Dorsey should be permitted to write and express his own thoughts without fear that he needs to provide all lyrics to U.S. Probation and the Government.”

The filing continues: “Besides Mr. Dorsey, are there any other music artists on supervised release in this District or throughout the United States being required to submit all of their song lyrics to U.S. Probation and the Government? Significantly, Mr. Dorsey’s song lyrics have not resulted in any criminal activity. It is respectfully submitted that blaming someone’s music for violence is like blaming Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone for violent crimes because of their movies.

“Furthermore, evaluating lyrics for alleged supervised release violations would result in arbitrary, vague and subjective enforcement. Accordingly, the proposed condition as it relates to the submission of future lyrics/mental impressions should not be adopted by this Honorable Court.”

That said, the ruling also makes clear that B.G. will not have to go to prison for his alleged probation violation because he has become “an asset to the community.”

Jermaine Dupri Rips Apple Music Best 100 Albums, Says R&B Disrespected

Jermaine Dupri is incensed over Apple Music's 100 Best Albums list ... specifically, the lack of R&B inclusion. Jermaine Dupri is incensed over Apple Music's 100 Best Albums list ... specifically, the lack of R&B inclusion. JD, who was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018, notes the music that influenced him and his peers was shockingly ignored. Apple Music's Ebro Darden argued "Thriller" lacked a cohesive theme to get the top spot ... Lauryn Hill's 'Miseducation' album was their clear #1.

The So So Def hitmaker joined "TMZ Live" Wednesday and groused that several iconic R&B acts, such as Mariah Carey, TLC, Diana Ross, and Jodeci ... didn't make Apple's cut.

We surprised @MsLaurynHill at an intimate dinner in New York to tell her that The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was No. 1 on our #100BestAlbums list. 🏆 What does this album mean to you? pic.twitter.com/BslciRVEm0— Apple Music (@AppleMusic) May 22, 2024 @AppleMusic

JD begged to differ, telling Harvey and Charles "Thriller" was hands down #1. Check out the video and hear Jermaine's take on what makes "Thriller" better than all the others.

Why So Many Games For Clark?

Her stardom is still growing, as she recently signed a multi-year partnership with Wilson and helped earned the Fever 36 nationally televised games out of their 40 overall in the regular season.

But Reese continues to remind fans and the media that there are other players and teams to still give just as much attention to.

She also has held the league accountable over the lack of charter flights, which the Sky did not have at the start of the 2024 WNBA season, unlike Clark and the Fever as well as the Lynx, who were the first two teams to fly charter for their openers in Connecticut and Seattle, respectively.

The WNBA has said they will “phase in” the charters and that the full plan will begin “as soon as we can get planes in places.”
